Is Cybersex really cheating?

Yes! I think when someone moves past fantasising about someone/thing else and takes action on it, it is cheating. Many people describe the act of looking as "window shopping" meaning that you can look but you can't touch. But going further into this analogy; window shopping also implies knowing nothing of the product except the beauty of the product and where it comes from (the store), but you do not know any of the specifics, nor will you see the product again. Yet the act of actually shopping requires time and money.

The same can be said for a relationship or the act of cheating. It is one thing to look at a passing person but it is another thing to stop and talk to said person. The Internet is not much different. Sure, you may lurk on MySpace.com or the up and coming Facebook.com, the act of actually messaging the object of attraction is wrong, and to engage is cybersex opens a whole new can of wrong.

No matter the medium, cheating is cheating; The internet is not an excse, it's a whole new tool.
